Mike Chamis
Mike has taught guitar at Guilford since Fall, 2005. His education includes a B. A. in Music Performance from Guilford (2005), North Carolina Certification for Music K-12 from Winston-Salem State University (2007), and a B. S. in Business Administration from UNC-Chapel Hill (1985).
He was a classroom teacher of guitar in the Guilford County Schools for two years (2005-2007) at the middle and high school levels. Before attending Guilford in 2002, Mike taught guitar and electric bass privately, maintaining a weekly roster of students for over 15 years. He has also performed at festivals, schools and music clubs since 1981, including seven years as music director for Wheel Theatre Company of Winston-Salem (1992-1999).
Currently, Mike is working toward a Master's of Music Performance at University of North Carolina School of the Arts, studying guitar with Joseph Pecoraro. He is a teacher's assistant in the UNCSA guitar program and an instructor at the Community Music School of UNCSA in downtown Winston-Salem. He is also serving on the board of the Piedmont Classic Guitar Society.
