Foreign Languages News/Events
At Guilford the study of language is about more than just grammar and vocabulary; it is about people, cultures, and understanding. Activities outside of the classroom are an important part of life at Guilford and students and faculty in the Foreign Language Department organize clubs and activities to strengthen both linguistic skills and a sense of community.
Film Festivals
Check the calendar for details about film festivals.
International Film Festival:
Every spring the International Studies Program sponsors an international film festival. The series shows films from Africa, East Asia, Europe, Latin America and others on a select theme.
Latin American Film Series:
This film festival is organized by UNC Chapel Hill and Duke University in conjunction with Guilford, NC State, UNCG and NC Central. Its mission is to stimulate institutional and public awareness of the importance and richness of Latin American and Caribbean peoples and cultures.
Tournées Film Festival:
This film festival is made possible by a grant program that supports the screening of French and Francophone films on college campuses. This grant is funded by the nonprofit FACE (French American Cultural Exchange) and the Cultural Services of the French Embassy and the Ministry of Culture. Guilford's festivals are free and open to the public so as to encourage campus-community involvement.
