Foreign Languages Department

Guilford strives to impart a sense of global community in its students, a goal greatly served by the Foreign Language Department. From introductory language classes to cultural explorations taught exclusively in the language of study, Guilford excels.

The Foreign Language Department offers courses in French, German, Japanese, and Spanish. Courses put great emphasis on the cultures in which these languages are spoken. At higher levels, students examine a wide range of aspects from the political, social, and historical to the artistic and literary elements of these cultures.

All students at Guilford, especially those interested in foreign languages, are encouraged to study abroad. Guilford College offers programs around the world to provide great opportunities for students to appreciate diverse cultures.

The Guilford College commitment to community, both on a local and global scale, shows in the many clubs and activities in which foreign language students are involved. Holding activities ranging conversation tables to festivals, students and faculty are active members of the Guilford community.
