Kaylene Swenson
Kaylene Brummett Swenson is a Visiting Writing Instructor who teaches composition and HP classes. Kaylene received her B.A. from Harding University and her M.A. from Louisiana State University. Geaux Tigers! As a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, she especially enjoys teaching HP: The History and Literature of New Orleans. As a former high school English teacher, she considers it an honor to help her composition students transition from high school to college.
Kaylene’s interests include reading about and cooking unprocessed and local foods; Saturday mornings you’ll find her at Greensboro’s Farmer’s Market. After the birth of her first child, Kaylene became a doula (a woman who supports women and their partners during childbirth) and volunteers in the YWCA program for teen moms. The noisier the world gets, the more Kaylene enjoys spending time in silence and walking. She hopes to walk El Camino de Santiago in its entirety one day. She and her husband are eagerly awaiting the birth of their second child.
