Computing Technology & Information Systems Minors

Information Systems Track

The minor in computing technology & information systems may be completed in either information technology or information systems. Students are highly recommended to have completed the Quantitative Literacy requirement and BUS 141 Introduction to Computers, or demonstrate equivalent knowledge and experience of each. The information technology track focuses the student on studies of the application of computing hardware and software. (Inter)Networking Computers introduces students to network architectures and telecommunication protocols, while Database Systems introduces modern data storage techniques using relational databases. The information systems track focuses students on the management of information technology in businesses, organizations and the community. E-Business explores the application of computer technology to commercial transactions between businesses and consumers, while Systems Analysis & Design explores the process of information system formulation and development in an organizational setting.

The minor requires a minimum of 16 credits (four courses).
