Paralegal Certificate Program
North Carolina State Bar has designated Guilford College as a qualified
Paralegal Studies Program.
Guilford College is a member of the American Association for Paralegal Education (AAfPE)
The purpose of the Guilford College Paralegal Certificate Program is to help students prepare for a career as a paralegal (sometimes referred to as a legal assistant). There are many areas of employment opportunities. The most common is employment with a law firm, which can vary in size from one attorney to hundreds. Local, state and federal governmental entities also require the services of paralegals. Corporations also hire a significant number of paralegals.
The demand for paralegals has grown tremendously in the last 30 years, and it is anticipated that demand will increase in the future. The Guilford College Paralegal Certificate Program prepares individuals for the growing paralegal profession with an intense program of study that will take place over 18-20 weeks. Classes are held during the evenings and/or Saturdays for approximately 10 hours per week. Students will also be required to do more than 100 hours of study, as well as research and writing assignments, outside of the classroom.
Classrooms are located on the beautiful campus of Guilford College, located at 5800 West Friendly Ave., Greensboro, NC 27410. The classrooms are newly renovated and contain the technology necessary to help students achieve their educational goals.
