Tuition

Summer School tuition is only $259 per credit or $1,036 per 4-credit class. Registration fee is $15 regardless of the number of courses.

Registration Instructions

If REGISTERED AND PAID, your registration is complete for the courses listed on your student schedule on BannerWeb.

If REGISTERED BUT NOT PAID, see Student Financial Services for payment.

If NOT REGISTERED, complete a registration form (click here for a printable form) and clearly print the codes for your chosen courses. Take (or send) your registration to the Registrar's Office for processing. Proceed to the Office of Student Financial Services for any required payments. Pay all charges for the appropriate term. Note: All charges for the Ten-Week term may be paid on May 21; Second Session courses may be paid on June 25.

ONLINE REGISTRATION (for current students) will be available for the 1st session through May 18, 2008; for the Ten-week session through May 18, 2008 and for the 2nd session through June 22, 2008.

NOTE: Once registered you are officially enrolled at Guilford and financially responsible for charges. If you decide not to attend classes, you MUST notify one of the appropriate offices in order to withdraw officially.

General Information and Regulations

Classes begin:
First 5-week Session Monday, May 19
Ten-week Evening Session Monday, May 19
Second 5-week Term Tuesday, June 27

Changes in registration must be completed by May 30 for the First Five-Week Session; by May 30 for the Ten-Week Session, and by June 30 for Second Session. Add / Drop slips must be processed through the Registrar's Office, basement New Garden Hall. Before the first day of classes, changes can also be made online.

Financial adjustments should be discussed with Student Financial Services. No refund or credit will be made to any student suspended or expelled from summer school.

Any student enrolled in summer school who finds it necessary to drop all courses must initiate a withdrawal. Traditional First Year students should see Clay Harshaw in the First Year Center and all other Traditional students should see the Campus Life Office in Founders Hall; CCE students see Joylynn Rasmussen in Hendricks Hall. A student who stops attending classes without officially withdrawing will receive F grades in such courses and are financially responsible for the courses. Once registered you are officially enrolled at Guilford and financially responsible for charges. If you decide not to attend classes, you MUST notify one of the appropriate offices in order to withdraw officially.

Regular class attendance is required if you are to be successful in summer school.

Honor code regulations must be observed. Willful falsification of college records, the improper use of quotations, plagiarism and unauthorized assistance on tests, papers and other academic assignments are prohibited. The Associate Academic Dean and Dean of Students will have jurisdiction in all cases involving infractions of rules and regulations. Refer to the statement of Policies Governing Student Conduct for a summary of important social regulations.

Services and Office Hours

The Learning Commons: The center is located on the second floor of the library and is open this summer to assist students in writing, study and test-taking skills, and time management. Tutoring is also available in specific subject areas. Hours: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 2:00pm - 7:00pm. If you have questions, please call 316-2253.

Bookstore: Located in the lower level of Founders Hall. Book Rush Hours: May 19-20 and June 26-27, Monday and Tuesday, 9am - 6pm; Regular summer hours: Monday - Thursday, 9am - 5pm; Friday, 9:00am - 2:00pm. For textbook information, contact 316-2156.

Student Financial Services Hours: Tuesday and Wednesday, 8:30am - 6pm; Monday, Thursday, and Friday, 8:30am - 5pm.

Registrar's Office Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm.

Career and Community Learning: Located in the lower level of Founders Hall. Open this summer for individual advising and student use of career library resources. Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5pm. For appointments, call 316-2187.

Center for Continuing Education: Summer Hours: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 8:30 am - 8pm; Wednesday and Friday 8:30 am - 5pm. Academic advisers are available during both day and evening hours.

The Library: A Guilford College ID is needed in order to check out materials from the library.
Library Hours (return reserves 15 minutes before closing):

  • 8:30am-10:30pm Monday - Thursday
  • 8:30am-5pm Friday
  • 10am-6pm Saturday
  • 12 noon -10:30pm Sunday

Fieldhouse: Students with ID's, enrolled in summer school, may use the Physical Education Center with your Guilford College ID Card. The pool will be opened 11:30am - 1:00pm, Monday through Friday. Racquetball court reservations may be made at 316-2850. The PE Center will be opened Monday - Friday, 8am - 6pm.

Public Safety Department: Located in the lower level of Bauman Telecommunications Building. Hours: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm; after 5pm contact 316-2909. Permits issued to current Guilford faculty and students for 2007-2008 are valid through the end of summer school.

Parking stickers: Will be issued free-of-charge for summer school by the Public Safety Department.

Student Health Services: Will not be open this summer. In case of emergency or illness, students can go to Urgent Medical and Family Care, Wesley Long Hospital, or Moses Cone Hospital.

Guilford College Residence Hall and Campus Regulations

All members of the Guilford College community are expected to respect the behavior standards outlined below. For further details, reference should be made to the Guilford College Handbook. The Campus Life staff will work with summer resident students to plan summer social/recreational/cultural activities. All students who live in residence halls pay a summer program fee of $10.00 per student. The Campus Life staff has responsibility for spending this money.

  1. Security Control Bubble is open 24/7 and can be reached at x2911 for emergencies and x2000 for non-emergencies and the operator.
  2. The Founders Hall Information Desk will be open during normal business hours and can be reached at x2301.
  3. Meals will not be provided.
  4. Mail - All students are responsible for checking their mail daily in the lower level of Founders Hall. Mailboxes will be assigned at the time of registration to all students who live on campus. Mailroom hours will be posted on the Mailroom door.
  5. Discrimination and harassment based on race, sex, ethnicity, religion and/or sexual orientation, whether explicit or implicit, is a violation of the student conduct code and may result in judicial charges.
  6. Motor vehicles must be operated in a safe and proper manner. Campus wide speed limit is 25 MPH.
  7. No swimming is permitted in the college lake.
  8. All applicable residence hall policies are in the Guilford College Handbook. Those policies of particular concern are listed below:
    1. Residence halls are expected to be quiet and orderly at all times, but especially quiet Sunday night through Friday morning from 11pm until 9am. Quiet hours begin at 1am on Saturday and Sunday mornings and extend through the following morning at 9am.
    2. Guests of residents found in violation of policies will be escorted from campus and the resident will receive judicial charges.
    3. Use of alcohol on campus is restricted to student rooms and to those students who are at least 21 years of age.
    4. The use, possession or distribution of any illegal drug is prohibited.
    5. Physical or verbal abuse of any person and physical abuse of personal property or the property of the college are prohibited.
    6. The possession of firearms, except by authorized law enforcement officials, is prohibited.

Abuse of/tampering with fire safety equipment or violation of general college safety regulations, the alteration of electrical circuits or the possession or use of fireworks, candles, open coils, sun lamps, air conditioners, or unauthorized refrigerators, etc, is prohibited. Smoking is NOT permitted inside English Hall. When a fire alarm is sounded, all persons must evacuate the building.
