Concentrations
The curriculum features 53 inter-disciplinary and disciplinary concentrations that provide coherent plans of study for students with special interests apart from their majors or who wish to pursue further study related to the major. Concentrations normally consist of four courses.
All students except for double- or triple-majors, who are not required to take a concentration, must complete a minimum of one major and one concentration. They must take at least at least 48 credit hours to meet this requirement: at least 32 hours for the major and at least 16 hours for the concentration. In the case where a student wishes to use a single course to fulfill requirements for both a major and a concentration, s/he may do so as long as the 48-hour minimum is maintained (this may require taking additional courses).
Students who have completed 48 credit hours for a major and a concentration may double-count up to four of these courses toward additional concentrations.
Please note that there may be a restriction on whether a particular major and concentration can be chosen in combination. For additional information about the concentrations listed below, contact the coordinator listed for each.
