Transfer Credits

Generous Transfer Credit Policy

  • No expiration on transfer credits
  • Many technical courses transfer
  • Courses with C- or higher can transfer
  • Grades do NOT transfer. Students start with a clean slate at Guilford

Transfer students must present an official transcript from each college attended. Transfer credit is evaluated on a course by course basis, and credit is granted only for courses with a grade of C- or higher. The credits as well as the course itself will transfer. The grade does not transfer and therefore, the grade point average (GPA) is not affected.

A maximum of 48 credits may be transferred from accredited technical colleges, a maximum of 64 credits total my be transferred from all accredited two-year colleges, and no maximum is placed on the number of credits transferred from accredited four-year senior institutions.

Guilford College does not award academic credit for course work taken on a non-credit basis; nor does Guilford award credit for job-related experience or non-academic experiential learning.

To graduate, students must complete a minimum of 32 semester credits at Guilford College and satisfy all degree requirements. A minimum of 128 semester credits is required to graduate, and at least half of the major and half of the minor must be taken at the College.
