After Guilford
Political science alumni serve as labor organizers, city planners, congressional staff members, educators, lobbyists, campaign managers, business consultants, and policy specialists in government, agencies, non-profits and international organizations. Furthermore, the Political Science Department is also committed to preparing students for professional and graduate programs in law, political science and public policy and administration. Several recent graduates have been accepted to the most competitive programs in these fields both in the United States and abroad.
Jeff Thigpen ’93 (Political Science and Justice and Policy Studies major) is the current Register of Deeds for Guilford County, covering the major areas of Greensboro and High Point, NC.
Trevor Corning ’10 (Political Science major, Economics minor) is working with Brookings Executive Education in Washington, D.C., assisting with the logistics of their public policy programs.
Walter DeFoor ’10 (Political Science major, Visual Arts minor) is currently enrolled in American University’s Washington College of Law.
Jennifer Maynard ’08 (Political Science major), is a women’s lacrosse coach at Northwest Guilford High School in Greensboro, NC and was recently named Coach of the Year.
Rebecca Spence ’08 (Political Science major) is an AmeriCorps-VISTA Specialist, Rancho Cucamonga, California.
