**All first year students are required to be on either the Quaker 19 or 14 meal plan for the academic year.

  • Quaker 19 Meal Plan -- This meal plan allows you the most flexibility. All meals in the dining hall are included in the plan. We have made this simple for all those who have chosen this "Quaker 19 Plan." The basic idea behind the "Quaker 19 Plan" is that all residential persons are required to be on a meal plan. When you lived at home, you had the ability to eat, drink or snack almost whenever the urge struck you. Just consider this plan as our way of making you feel right at home. This seamless plan offers the flexibility of eating at the dining hall during regular meal hours for a total of 19 meals per week.
  • Quaker 14 Meal Plan -- Another option for residential students who would like to obtain an alternative meal plan, here is the answer. This plan offers the flexibility of pre-paid meals and savings for the user. The user is entitled to any fourteen meals per week they would like, plus $175 per semester in Grill Cash to spend in all food service retail operation on campus. This will enable the user to enter the dining hall at any meal period and not have to worry about the cost per meal.
  • Quaker 10 Meal Plan  --  Another option for residential students who would like to obtain an alternative meal plan, this plan offers the flexibility of pre-paid meals and savings for the year. The user is entitled to any ten meals per week, they would like, plus $175 per semester in Grill cash to spend in all foodservice retail operations on campus. This will enable the user to enter the dining hall at a meal period and not have to worry about the cost per meal.
  • Quaker 5 Meal Plan -- Yet another meal plan option for residential students living in the apartments and alternative houses is the "Quaker 5 Plan." This plan offers the flexibility of pre-paid meals and savings for the user. The user is entitled to any five meals per week they would like. This will enable the user to enter the dining hall at any meal period and not have to worry about the cost per meal.

Meal Plan

Guilford College requires all full time residential students to participate in a meal plan except those students who live in campus apartments or alternative houses. This policy allows for few, if any, exceptions. Those who request an exemption for the college's board plan (meals) may complete the Meal Plan Exemption Request Form. Please note that meal exemption requests will only be considered for those who demonstrate a critical need to be off the meal plan and provide appropriate documentation. Exemption requests are reviewed during the fall and spring semesters. To obtain a request form you may come by the office for campus life or e-mail CampusLIfe@guilford.edu. Meal plan changes are only accepted up through the first week of a new semester. Not all requests may be accepted. It depends on your class status and where you live on campus. Contact Residence Life at 336-316-2105 or reslife@guilford.edu.

NOTE: Application for exemption is not guaranteed and the total room, board and fees are due by the scheduled payment deadline(s) as outlined by the Office of Student Accounts. Failure to make payment may result in a student's withdrawal from the college or inability to register for classes or housing.
