Financial Need Estimator Service 2010-2011

Regardless of your family income level, Guilford College is prepared to help you afford the benefits of an excellent education. More than 90 percent of our students this year will receive scholarships, grants, work and loans.

The first step in financing an education is careful budgeting and planning. The Office of Student Financial Services can help. Attached is a short financial aid estimator form for you and your parents to complete and return to the Office of Student Financial Services. We will send back to you a preliminary estimate of the amount of financial assistance you might receive at Guilford College.

Guilford College encourages students to take advantage of this service, which answers the questions:

  • Will I qualify for financial assistant?

  • If so, how much may I expect to pay?

How the Service Works

  • Income and asset information should be provided for both parents and students.

  • Carefully estimate your family’s 2009 income. Our estimate can only be as accurate as the figures you give us. Incorrect figures or “guesstimates” may result in distorted calculations. It is not possible to prepare an estimate using a partially completed form. Please be sure to indicate if a question does not apply to you, or if the answer is zero. If any item is left blank, this form will be returned to you without a calculation.

  • Return the completed estimator form directly to the Office of Student Financial Services by February 1, 2010. After that date no early estimates will be calculated.

  • All information you report will remain confidential. There is no charge for this service.

  • Approximately two weeks after receiving your information we will send you an ESTIMATE of your financial eligibility along with explanatory literature.

THIS IS NOT AN APPLICATION FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. It is designed to give you an EARLY ESTIMATE of your eligibility for financial assistance. An official award will be provided only when you have been accepted for admission to the College, and you have filed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) listing Guilford as an electronic recipient of this data. Guilford College FAFSA Code is 002931.

You are encouraged to file these forms soon after January 1, 2010.

If, after your official FAFSA information has been received by the Office of Student Financial Services, your eligibility for financial assistance is different from what was calculated using this estimator form, your official award will reflect that difference.
