PLANNING TO GRADUATE
IN MAY 2009 OR JULY 2009?? |
Quality Enhancement Plan: Enhancing Student Writing in the Majors
If you are a senior planning to graduate in May 2009 or July 2009, you cannot register unless you clear your Degree Application Hold. To clear your HOLD, you must submit your Application for Graduation online by going to www.guilford.edu/gradapp
- Complete the online Application for Graduation.
- Run a Degree Evaluation Report online by going to www.guilford.edu/registrar and refer to section on “How Do I Run an online Degree Evaluation?”. This will help you to determine what requirements have been met and what requirements you are missing. Be sure to click on Detail Requirements to give you a more detailed output.
If substitutions or waivers have been made for any major or minor requirements, ask your chairperson/contact person to make a note on your degree evaluation report and bring it to the Registrar’s Office or to send a written or email note to the registrar’s office (For example, PSCI 250 – Europe/World is being substituted for PSCI 102).
- If you plan to graduate in May 2009 and are planning to register for consortium coursework at Bennett College, Elon University, Greensboro College, High Point University, NC A&T State University or UNC-Greensboro, please see Norma Middleton in the Registrar’s Office. If the host institution you attend ends later than Guilford does, you must check with the instructor to determine whether you can complete the course in time for your final grade(s) to be received here by Wednesday, May 6, 2009. Note: The host institution is under no obligation to report your consortium grades early. If your grades cannot be reported by May 6, you will need to either drop/add or graduate at a later date. Consortium coursework is not an option in the summer and does not apply to July 2008 degree candidates.
Minimum Graduation Requirements.
- earn a minimum of 128 semester hours of credit;
- earn a minimum cumulative grade-point average of C (2.00) ;
- complete a minimum of 32 semester hours of credits at Guilford;
- complete half their major(s) while enrolled at Guilford;
- complete half their minor(s) while enrolled at Guilford;
- spend last semester of study at Guilford;
- file application for degree candidacy online at least one semester before their anticipated date of graduation.
- The "C-credit Accumulation Plan" is an alternative to the four-year degree and is normally adopted after a period of academic separation from the college. The plan requires prior approval of the associate academic dean and the completion of 128 semester credits. Sixty-four of these credits must be a completed at Guilford with a grade of C (2.00) or higher. While only grades of C (2.00) and better count toward graduation, a grade below C results in permanent dismissal. Transcripts for student on the plan indicate actual grades.
- Once all requirements for graduation have been completed, students are only allowed to participate in the ceremony for which they apply to graduate.
