Quaker Card Agreement
Last Revised June 2007
Preface. The Guilford College Quaker Card is an identification card, as well as a financial transaction card. The Card is to be used the entire length of time you are affiliated with the college. Use of the Quaker Card constitutes your acknowledgment of receipt of this agreement and your agreement to be bound by these conditions under which it was issued. Quaker Card Agreement Conditions You, the cardholder, will be issued only one picture ID Quaker Card (the “Card”) specially designed for your use. At that time you will receive a copy of this Agreement.
Card Use
• Cardholder agrees that the Quaker Card is property of Guilford College and can be confiscated from the bearer as a result of inappropriate conduct or abuse. Use of the Quaker Card is subject to all terms, conditions, rules and agreements.
• You must present your Quaker Card at the time of use in order to obtain services. Your card and related accounts are nontransferable; any misuse or illegal transactions can result in privilege suspension and/or other actions by the College.
Quaker Card Accounts and Uses
• Upon receipt of the Card you can add cash to the on-campus or off-campus purse(s). You may use the Card to purchase goods or services offered by the College as well as by participating merchants that display the Quaker Card sign at their place of business. These transactions will be posted directly to your Card Account(s).
• In addition to its use for identification and making purchases or withdrawals from your Card Account(s), your Quaker Card also serves as your campus library card, meal ticket or residence hall access key (for detailed uses go to
www.guilford.edu/quakercard).
• The Quaker Card accounts are non-transferable; any unauthorized or illegal usage of the card will result in the loss of privilege to use the card, and possible judicial charges. In no event shall Guilford College be held liable for any loss or damage resulting from such use or attempted use of the Card for any such unrelated purpose.
• The Quaker Card IS NOT A CREDIT CARD. We will have no obligation to honor or complete any withdrawal or purchase transaction that is not covered by collected and available funds on deposit in your Card Account(s), and if we choose to do so (inadvertently or otherwise), you must immediately pay us the amount of the resulting overdraft plus an overdraft fee of $25.00. Once you have made a purchase, or transfer funds to the Card, you will have no right to stop payment on the transaction, and we will have no liability for not stopping payment.
• Payments from your Card Account(s) may be made only by use of point-of sales terminals, and not by check or draft.
• Your card may be set up to work with a Wachovia Checking account. That is the only way cash withdrawals may be made. Contact Wachovia directly to set up your card as a debit/ATM card.
• Card Accounts will be non interest-bearing and we will have no obligation to pay interest on your deposits.
Deposits
• You may make deposits to your Card Account(s) only at the Guilford College Quaker Card Office (1st floor, Founders Hall) and the Office of Student Accounts (lower level, New Garden Hall).
• Deposits to your Card Account(s) must be made and maintained by you in amounts sufficient to cover all such purchases. Only deposits of $5.00 and above will be accepted.
• We may refuse to complete any such transaction if insufficient funds are on deposit, or if we deem refusal necessary for security reasons. In the event where a deposit check is returned due to insufficient funds, a $25.00 handling charge will be added to the cardholder’s account.
• If you arrange for direct deposits to be made to your Account by another person, you must rely upon that person to tell you when he or she makes a deposit; but you may call The Card Office or Office of Student Accounts to find out whether or not an expected deposit is made.
Transactions
• You are responsible for the usage of your card. You will also be responsible for unauthorized use of your Card to the full extent allowed by applicable federal and state law. Additionally, any person other than yourself who uses your Card will be responsible for all transactions made by him or her or by others with his or her permission; but this does not limit your own responsibility.
• A receipt or other confirmation of transactions will be given to the cardholder each time a deposit or purchase is made by using your Card at a point of sale machine. If you do not obtain a receipt it is your responsibility to request one.
