What is the Quaker Card?

The Quaker Card is the Guilford College ID Card. Cardholders have access to the following services:

  • Campus ID Card
  • Library Access
  • Door Access
  • Print/Copy Access
  • Meal Plan/Grill Cash (if traditional-aged residential student)
    This applies to the following meal plans: 10-meal plan and 14-meal plan ONLY: Students on meal plans other than these two listed must place funds in Campus Dollars OR Community Dollars on the Quaker Card to use for dining in the Founders Hall Grill

Funds can be added to the card purses to provide these additional services :

  • Bookstore - campus bookstore use only
  • Campus Dollars - used in the Cafeteria, the Grill, and the campus bookstore
  • Community Dollars - used at selected off-campus merchants as well as on-campus locations listed
  • Financial Aid Voucher - financial aid funds used to purchase required course materials from the bookstore only

Where do I get a Quaker Card?

You receive one when you arrive at Guilford for your college career. You may obtain a new one by visiting the office. Except during registration periods, it is always best to schedule an appointment.

How do I check the balance (or add funds on-line) on my Quaker Card?

To add funds please review our page on adding money to the Quaker Card purses.

To check the balance on your card, please review the detailed instructions below. Once the online account is set up, cardholders will automatically be able to add funds and view balances.

1)      Type in the following web site: www.guilford.edu/quakercard   This will take you to the main Quaker Card web page.

  • On the main Quaker Card web page, under the Related Links section on the right hand side, click on the Add Money link.
  • On the Add Money web page, click on the first link, “Quaker Card Online”.  This link will take you to the online site where you can add funds to your Quaker Card.
  • On the main Quaker Card Online web page, you will need to look in the box in the upper right hand corner and do one of the following below:
    • IF NEW USER: Click on “I’m new here” to create your new account with your Guilford ID Number (G-number) and fill out the form as directed.  Your password for the account will be emailed to you in a matter of minutes.  You will need to check your email to obtain the password.
    • RETURNING USER: Log-in with your Guilford ID Number (G-Number) and password and             then click on the “login” button
  • On the next page, on the top left corner above the Navigate section, you will see a  Gray Bar.  In the Gray Bar, there are the words in bold all capital letters “ADD CASH NOW”; these words do flash from time to time.  This is the link where you will click to add funds to your Quaker Card.  This will take you to the credit card information screen.
  • On the credit card information screen, you will be able to use a credit card or debit card of the following companies: American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa.  No cash or checks can be   used as payment on the web site.  Please fill in the form completely as directed and specify which “PLAN” you want your funds to be applied to. 

    **Note: For adding funds to your printing/copy accounts, place your funds in the CAMPUS DOLLARS

or COMMUNITY DOLLARS plan.**   

 

What do I do if I return my books to the bookstore and I paid from Quaker Card funds?

You will need to contact the Quaker Card Office to verify your funds have been placed back on your ID Card in the correct account(s).

 

What do I do if my card is damaged, lost or stolen?

You need to report it to Public Safety and the Student Financial Services Office immediately. Once reported to Student Financial Services, your card will then be deactivated and you will be able to replace it for $25.  If your card is damaged, the replacement fee is $15. The fee will be charged to the cardholder's campus account.

 

Will I be able to use my existing Guilford College ID card?

Yes, if your current Student ID has the blue background and is on file in the office.  Otherwise, you must obtain a new Student ID to use its current features.  The Quaker Card Purse is an additional feature added onto your Student ID card.

Where can the Quaker Card be used?

The Quaker Card can be used in the Library, Cafeteria, Bookstore, Grill 155, to access Residence Halls, and at selected off-campus merchants.

Can I use the Quaker Card for doing Laundry?

At the current time no. We are planning to be able to provide laundry services in the near future.

Why can't I use Grill Cash off-campus?

Grill Cash is a program administered from Guilford Dining Services and is a part of selected meal plans. Grill Cash can still be used at Grill. The Quaker Card Purse is an additional fund we have created to allow students to use their ID card for purchases unrelated to Guilford Dining Services.

Are there any restrictions on usage?

Yes. You can only purchase goods and services for the amount which has been loaded onto the card. It can only be used at merchants with which we have reached an agreement to accept the Quaker Card as payment. You are also restricted by which purse the funds are located in. The Quaker Card is not a credit card.

What are the purses for the Quaker Card?

The Quaker Card has the following purses available for the use of campus community members:

  • Grill Cash: May only be used at Grill and is provided as a part of select meal plans. Grill Cash may not be used in any other location.
  • Bookstore: May only be used at the Guilford College Bookstore.
  • Campus Dollars: May be used at the Guilford College Bookstore, the Cafeteria and the Grill.
  • Community Dollars: May be used at select off-campus merchants in addition to any location where Campus Dollars are accepted.
  • Financial Aid Voucher: May only be used to purchase required course materials from the Guilford College Bookstore.

Can I withdraw cash from my Quaker Card account(s)?

No.  The Quaker Card can only be an ATM card if you have a checking account with Wachovia Bank--this is optional.

Guilford College will not give out cash reimbursements. Funds can only be credited to the cardholder's account.

Are balances carried forward on Quaker Card account(s)?

Grill Cash: expires at the end of each semester

Financial Aid Voucher: these balances will carry over unless the student withdraws or graduates from the college

Campus and Community Dollars: these balances carry over unless the student withdraws from the college. If the student withdraws from the college, balances over $25.00 will be refunded to the student.  Upon graduation, balances over $10.00 will be refunded to the student. Any requests for refunds must be made in writing to the office.  Forms for the Quaker Card account refunds are available by clicking the "refunds" link provided.

How are store returns handled?

These are handled by the merchant's return credit policy. Merchants are not allowed to return funds to

Quaker Card account(s).

Is there a fee to use the Quaker Card?

No, there is no fee to use your initial Quaker Card for all its new uses.  Please see FAQ information on lost, stolen, and damaged cards for fee structure.

Do you have to have a Wachovia checking account?

No, the ATM card feature is optional. Students are free to have checking accounts at other banks. However, they will need a separate ATM card for those checking accounts.

Is the Quaker Card a credit card?

No, the Quaker Card Purse is a stored value debit account kept with Guilford College. Students will be unable to make purchases for more than the amount of money in the account at the time of purchase.
