THE OFFICE OF CAMPUS LIFE
Guilford College, through the Campus Life Office, operates residence halls, houses and apartments that house approximately 1083 students. Strict policies govern access to the halls, and students are encouraged to be responsible for their own safety and the safety of others. Students are asked to assist in maintaining the security of the residence halls by not propping doors open, by closing first floor windows, by keeping individual room doors locked at all times and by informing your residential life staff of any strangers you see in your building.
Programs
The residential life program at Guilford College is actively committed to promoting safety and security for students living on campus. Educational programs and written materials encourage an increased awareness of personal safety on campus.
- Educational programs are organized by the residential life staff throughout the year on various topics related to safety. Administrative staff, hall directors and resident advisers work in close cooperation with the Public Safety Office to provide relevant and useful activities to enhance individual and community security and safety.
- Training for resident advisers and hall directors includes campus public safety issues. Hall meetings provide a forum to provide residents with information and apprise them of situations which may arise.
- As a part of orientation, all new students attend a session on college dating, which includes information on acquaintance rape. Educational programs during the year involve both campus and Greensboro community resources and can be tailored to specific audience interests and issues. Please contact your resident adviser if you would like to have such a program in your area.
