Africana CHANGE Program

Africana CHANGE Program

The Africana CHANGE Internship Program (ACP) will further the college's goal to create an anti-racist, multicultural campus community by strengthening our ability to recruit, retain, educate, and graduate a diverse student body. The internship will build life skills through the exploration of identity.

Program Summary

Five Africana Community CHANGE participants will be selected for the Fall 2009- semester. ACP is a holistic developmental program for Africana students of Guilford College, which will increase historic and current Africana knowledge of the students.  The program has very high academic and personal growth expectations for all students. While learning the heritage of the Diaspora, this program is designed to increase each student’s sense of pride and self-identity. The CHANGE program also focuses on other cultures in hopes to increase the world view of each student and emphasize the importance of racial equality.

Participating students will earn 2 credits in the Psychology or African American Studies, attend the Broadway Color Purple Play, and explore personal identities.
