Honors Program

"I like the fact that the Honors Program isn't exclusive... isolating the honors students takes away from their experience and other students' experiences."

This student's view is exactly what sets the Guilford College Honors Program apart from most honors programs at other colleges and universities.

The program keeps with Guilford's Quaker tradition of equality in that there is no "society" in which students are automatically placed because of high grades. There isn't even an honors residence hall. Honors students usually take only one honors course per semester.

The Honors Scholarship awards are selective and merit-based. This application is within the admission application. Typically, candidates are in the top ten percent of their class, with a 3.50 or better, and a minimum SAT score of 1300 (or ACT score of 29). We seek all students, however, who have demonstrated outstanding performance relative to challenging situations.

Students who wish to be considered for the Guilford College Honors Scholarship program are encouraged to apply for admission by January 1.
