Recycling at Guilford
Because Greensboro no longer has an operational landfill, trash from Greensboro gets sent roughly 80 miles away to Montgomery County. When you make the choice to recycle at Guilford, you save space in a transfer truck that gets about 6.5 miles to the gallon. As a result, you protect your own air quality and help to eliminate greenhouse gases that cause global warming.
At Guilford, it’s easy to recycle. Just put your recyclables in the blue bin in your room and when it is full, take it to the green recycling dumpster closest to your residence hall.
Green or clear recycling bags can be picked up from your RA, the Founders’ Information Desk, the Sustainability Coordinator's office in Bauman B-16, or the Sustainability Office located at King B-7.
What can I recycle? You can recycle the GAPPS.
GAPPS = Glass, Aluminum, Plastic, Paper, and Steel.
