From what we serve to how we clean up after a meal, we are committed to reducing our impact on our natural resources.

Guilford Dining features many local ingredients, as well as organics, as we make every effort to offer a fresh and popular menu every day.  These selections are clearly identified on our daily menus and in the dining room as you consider your choices.

We are committeed to these initiatives:

  • Partnerships with local artisans and farmers individually and through our relationship with Eastern Carolina Organics
  • Composting and Recycling the GAPP (glass, aluminum, paper/cardboard, and plastic)
  • Waste reduction through:
    • trayless dining
    • weighing the waste campaigns
    • giving leftovers an "encore"
    • collecting fryer oil for biofuel
  • Cutting edge, closed-loop composting with Earth Tub technology (and a pulper in the dishroom to reduce garbage)

We believe the dining room should be another classroom.  Not one where you take exams, but one where you have a chance to raise your awareness about food --- how it feeds our bodies and our souls.
