Her book, We Are Our Mothers' Daughters, published in 2000, is an account of women's roles and relationships throughout American history. Her 2001 book, From This Day Forward, co-authored with her husband, Steve, is an account of their more than 35-year marriage and other marriages in American history. Both books were New York Times bestsellers. Her latest book, Founding Mothers: The Women Who Raised Our Nation, was released in April.
In more than 30 years in broadcasting, Roberts has won countless awards, including two Emmys and the Edward R. Murrow Award. She has been inducted into the Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame, and was cited by the American Women in Radio and Television as one of the 50 greatest women in the history of broadcasting. In January 2003, Roberts was appointed to the newly formed President's Commission on Service and Civic Participation.
