Color and Typography

Color

Color is an important component of the college’s identity program. Color should be used carefully and matched exactly to maintain consistency in all Guilford communications.

These colors are required for the college stationery system.

Maroon is one of the strongest elements of Guilford’s identity. When you are planning a piece that uses color, try to incorporate maroon into it. It is a strong visual cue to your audience that they are looking at something from Guilford.

Typography

Typography is critical to building distinctive style and visual identity. Two font faces have been chosen as the official college typefaces.

The official serif font is Garamond, a classic serif font which provides fluidity and consistency. Lengthy body text should be set in Garamond.

The official sans serif font is Myriad, a widely used sans serif font, and can be used for captions or any material where the text is used to make a statement.

Other typefaces may be used as accents, headlines or limited uses as appropriate.
