Graduates
Please take a few moments to complete a survey about your experiences on campus. You'll have an opportunity to print out the last page of the survey and turn it in (boxes are in Hendricks, Hege Library, and Campus Life) to be entered into a prize drawing.
Click here to access the survey.
Be sure to review the Schedule for information on rehearsal, baccalaureate, and times when you need to line up for the procession.
Graduation Celebration in the Guilford Bookstore
Caps and Gowns that were pre-ordered during the Graduation 101 event in February can be picked up at the College Bookstore (in the lower level of Founders Hall) on the following dates and times:
Thursday, April 23, 2009
8:30 am - 6:00 pm
Friday, April 24, 2009
8:30 am - 5:00 pm
If you were not able to pre-order, you should still stop by for this celebration in your honor. You can also purchase a cap and gown at this time so you can be sure to have one at graduation.
For students unable to make it to the celebration on April 23 and 24, you can purchase and pick up a cap and gown at the bookstore during their normal business hours between April 24th and May 8. They are even open at 7:00 am on graduation day, May 9.
Caps and Gowns
- Graduates walking in the commencement ceremony are required to wear traditional graduation regalia.
- Tassels should be worn on the right until the degree is conferred.
- Caps and Gowns are black with burgundy and gray tassels. Graduates may keep their caps, gowns and tassels as souvenirs.
Announcements and class rings are available online at www.jostens.com/college.
- Announcements ordered through the campus bookstore are buff with the college seal in maroon and gold. They are sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
July and December 2009 Graduates: You are encouraged to participate in the May 2010 graduation ceremony. You will have to be sure to contact the bookstore to order a cap and gown if you are not able to come to the Graduation 101 event in February. You do not need to contact anyone else. If you are on the graduation lists for July or December, you just need to review the schedule so you don't miss when you are supposed to be at the various commencement activities.
Account Balances: All accounts must be settled and all library books must be returned by noon on Friday, May 8, 2009. Failure to do so will result in delays in receiving the diploma and forwarding transcripts. Students with outstanding balances may not participate in the Commencement ceremony.
Career & Community Learning: The Career & Community Learning Office provides individual advising, assessment, career fairs and a series of workshops on a variety of career-related issues for both current students and alumni. The Career Center also houses an extensive library of print and computer materials to help students and alumni search for jobs, explore careers, research graduate schools and connect to community service and internship opportunities. The alumni Network is a database resource of the Career Center which includes the names of more than 1,500 Guilford alumni willing to help students and graduates in their career and life planning. Please visit the website at www.guilford.edu/cacl.
Alumni Association:
The Guilford College Alumni Association and The Office of Alumni Relations warmly welcomes you into the extended Guilford community of over 22,000 alumni! We will always be here to assist you in your efforts to stay connected, and make new connections, with your Guilford peers throughout the world! We too, hope that you will continue to support your alma mater in a variety of ways throughout your lifetime as so many others before you have done.
To help you start making connections with other alums, the alumni association invites you to your first alumni event - "Guilford Crossroads" - at Solaris Tapas Restaurant and Bar at 125 Summit Ave, Downtown Greensboro. Delicious Solaris munchies and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided by your Alumni Office and Association. The event will take place on Thursday, May 28, from 5-7PM. RSVPs are kindly requested by May 26. To respond, go to the Guilford Connections link (discussed below) and follow the link for "Guilford Crossroads at Solaris." Or, you can call the alumni office at 336-316-2321.
There is a new way to help you make alumni connections: Guilfordconnections.com
Before you graduate, take a few moments to log in, register, create your profile, include your resume, and even post a class note and perhaps a photo about your next adventure! Also at this site, you may maintain an e-mail for life account @alumni.guilford.edu.
At Guilfordconnections.com, you will be able to keep up with alumni events happening wherever you may be living. You can search for Guilford alumni by major, class, and location! You will be included in an expanded career partnership with other colleges and universities’ alumni.
To sign up for our online community and e-mail for life, go to Guilfordconnections.com and click on “register now.” After verifying your information, you may create your own username and password. For your e-mail for life account, you will need an outside e-mail account (gmail, hotmail, roadrunner, etc.) to use as your forwarding address (if you already set one up for POP, then use that one). When signing up for e-mail for life please make sure you select an email address you are happy with, because you will not be able to change it once you create it. However, you will be able to change the e-mail address it forwards to at any time. If you have any questions about the online community, e-mail for life, or services of the alumni office and association, please don’t hesitate to contact alumni@guilford.edu.
Our online community is new, and we are just beginning to see its benefits. Please be patient as the extended alumni family begins to use this tool with more frequency, and look for updates on all its services.
Again, we congratulate you and welcome you “officially” into our extended community.

You may be wondering what you need to do about your accounts and e-mail at Guilford upon graduation from Guilford. We hope to answer your questions in the statements below and provide a timeline for convenience:
How long can I log into the computers? Your login account at Guilford will be active and accessible until February 1, 2010. You will have access to the labs for login and share space, but not to printing. You are responsible for following the Network Acceptable Use Policy while accounts are open to you. If you have setup remote access to Guilford via VPN and Citrix, then you will have access to your share space without coming to the labs. Make sure you either burn a CD to take files with you, or setup the VPN connection to simply drag and drop files from your sharespace to your personal computer.
How long do I get to keep my current student e-mail account? Your Notes accounts will remain active until February 1, 2010 from the client and the web. In the meantime, you will want to create another e-mail account (hotmail, roadrunner, gmail, etc.) and then following the directions to POP your mail to that account. After you have created your new e-mail account and setup POP, you will continue to receive messages sent to Guilford in your outside account until the account is removed.
Do we get alumni e-mail accounts? You can stay connected to Guilford College by maintaining an Alumni E-mail for Life account @alumni.guilford.edu. You are able to sign up for these accounts now. You will need an outside e-mail account (gmail, hotmail, roadrunner, etc.) to use as your forwarding address (if you already set one up for POP, then use that one). Then, just register on-line via https://www.guilford.edu/secure/alumni/emailforlife.cfm, to create your accountname@alumni.guilford.edu. You can change that e-mail forwarding information at any time, by revisiting the website. If you are continuing at Guilford, or are employed by Guilford, you can not use your Guilford e-mail account as your forwarding address.
