Expectations for Faculty Sponsors
Faculty Sponsor Timeline
The following guidelines are designed to help faculty members in their role as sponsors of internships for academic credit:

- Help the student prepare the internship proposal, especially the areas which clarify the learning objectives, set regular meeting times, and establish criteria for evaluation of the internship experience. Agree on the types of writing involved.
DURING THE FIRST TWO WEEKS
- Establish telephone contact with the Intern's Site Supervisor.
THROUGHOUT THE TERM
- Meet regularly (at least every two weeks is recommended) with the Intern to discuss learning occurring in the internship and to encourage reflection of the process.
PRIOR TO MID-TERM
- Visit the internship site supervisor or talk by phone to determine the mid-term grade.
- Schedule a meeting with your Intern to review the internship proposal and discuss the internship experience to date.
- Submit the mid-term grade to the Registrar's Office.
END OF TERM
- Meet with your Intern and review the final evaluation of the internship experience as well as the Site Supervisor's evaluation.
