Students requesting waivers of Internship Policy Guidelines should contact the Internship Coordinator/IFP Liaison as a first step.  If the student's case is approved by the Internship Coordinator/IFP Vocational Counselor, then the final proposal will require the sanction of the Associate Academic Dean.

Interns must have Internship Proposals on file with Career & Community Learning before undertaking an internship experience.

Delayed Registration for a Summer Internship

In order to delay registration for a summer internship until the following fall semester, students must execute the following steps:

BEFORE THE CONCLUSION OF THE SPRING SEMESTER:

  • Agree upon a method of contact with your faculty sponsor (i.e. email) and frequency of contact.
  • Fill out the internship forms and give them to the Internship Coordinator/IFP Vocational Counselor. Make sure that you include your summer contact information.

DURING THE SUMMER OF THE INTERNSHIP:

  • Write journal entries.
  • Maintain contact with your faculty sponsor and complete any work assigned by your faculty sponsor.

DURING THE FALL SEMESTER FOLLOWING THE INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE:

  • Write the final paper and submit it to your faculty sponsor.

Students must have Internship Proposals on file with Career and Community Learning before undertaking an internship experience.  The Coordinator of Internships/IFP Vocational Counselor will send the student's paperwork to the registrar's office in the fall, adding the internship credit to the student's fall schedule. No retroactive credit will be granted for students who do not follow this procedure.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Internship Coordinator/IFP Vocational Counselor at (336) 316-2314.
