The deadline for enrolling in SERVE will be September 23rd. However, if you are ready to commit to the program now, please indicate your proposed level of commitment below (please check one): 

  1. Staff member working in SERVE related areas _______
    ($300 prorated stipend for completing 4 workshops)

  2. Faculty member modifying a course _______
    ($700 prorated stipend for completing 7 workshops; $1700 stipend for completing course and assessment)

  3. Faculty member creating a new course _______
    ($700 prorated stipend for completing 7 workshops; $2000 stipend for completing course and assessment)*

*NOTE:  New courses created through SERVE will require approval from departmental colleagues, curriculum committee and the director of the Guilford Initiative on Faith and Practice. If you intend to generate a new course, please address the following questions on an accompanying sheet of paper:

  • In what ways do the five academic principles factor into your course?
  • In what ways does the course content relate to the question of vocational discernment, finding one's place and role in this world, and understanding the needs of the world?
  • How does the experiential/service learning component enhance what students are learning in class?
  • How will you evaluate students and your participation in this project?
