Hunger Fellows
Our Mission:
To help meet the basic needs of nutrition and educational opportunities in the greater Greensboro community and on the Guilford College campus.
Background:
The Bonner Hunger Fellows progam was created in December 1999 as a way to honor the ongoing work of Corella and Bertram F. Bonner. The Bonner Hunger Fellows program works to bring together the two interests of Corella and Bertram Bonner as college students organize to do anti-hunger work.
What we do:
The Hunger Fellowship is a scholarship funded by the Bonner Foundation and is awarded every year to 2 students who are not Bonner Scholar recipients and who demonstrate a commitment to community issues, ability to initiate and complete projects, and has an interest in the issue of hunger. The Fellows work as a team to plan opportunities that educate and involve the Guilford College campus in hunger issues. In the past years they have organized campus wide events such as the Hunger Banquet and with the help of the a.i.d.s. Fellows the A.I.D.S. / Hunger Stroll. They also commit to volunteering weekly at one of the community programs engaged in anti-hunger work.
