Bonner Web Tips

The Bonner Foundation is now requiring all Bonner Scholars, not just Americorps members, to log their service and enrichment hours on the Bonner Web Based Reporting System located at http://www.bwbrs.org/.  We know there are some confusing aspects about this new system, and there remain kinks to be worked out. Hopefully this tip sheet will give you the basics and answer frequently asked questions.

TO LOGIN:

You must complete a Community Learning Agreement for any site where you volunteer on a regular basis before you can enter hours for that site. Those sites are known in this system as CLA sites. Non-CLA sites are those where you only volunteer occasionally, or one-time sites like a work trip or other short-term experience.

To Complete a Community Learning Agreement (should be done at the beginning of each semester & summer):

  • Click on the blue Plans tab
  • Click on the Community Learning Agreement tab (if the page is not already up)
  • Click Add (located top left of page)
  • "Switch to:" the correct semester (ex. Fall 2005)
  • SELECT the appropriate agency (your main committed site) & position

-most sites have two positions, project coordinator & volunteer

-if you select the wrong site or position, click Change at the top right of the page

  • Complete:

-Service Objective Statements

-Learning Objective Statements

-Additional Competencies

- adjust the average weekly hours if necessary

  • You may change other information if you wish (CLA Information and Commitment Information), but it is not necessary
  • Be sure to hit the Save button at the bottom right of the page
  • Click print this report with signature lines, written in blue.
  • Print a copy, sign it, get your site supervisor to sign in & turn it in to Claire.

To Log HOURS (should be completed & turned in by the 15th of each month):

  • Click on the blue Logs tab
  • "Switch to:" the correct semester (ex. Fall 2005)
  • Enter the date of service and the hours completed
  • Under "Type of Service" choose the site at which service was completed

CLA Service at your main site or sites

Non-CLA Service at any other site, could be a committed site where you volunteer only occasionally or a work trip

T & E Event is 'training and enrichment'-- cultural activities (speakers or events), retreats, fairs, trainings, year-level Bonner meetings

  • Be sure to hit the Add Log Entry button

Adding a CLA or Non-CLA Site

  • This can only be done by an administrator (James or Claire).

Adding a T & E Event

  • Check first to see if the event is already there by clicking the arrow beside the "select" box
  • If your event is not there, click on the blue Profiles tab
  • Click on the Training & Enrichment tab
  • Enter the information about the event
  • Be sure to hit the Save button at the bottom right of the page

Printing Logs

  • After you are done entering all your hours for the month, click on Reporting at the top left of the page
  • Choose the time period you would like to print out (select the exact weeks you need for the 15th of the last month to the 15th of this month)
  • Scroll down to the bottom & click on print this report with signature lines, written in blue.
  • Sign & date the log, get your site supervisor's signature & turn it in to Claire!

Recording a Service Accomplishment (must be done at end of each semester & summer)

  • Click on the blue Logs tab
  • Underneath the word Logs, select the Service Accomplishments tab on the right
  • Click Add (located top left of page)
  • Choose the activity phrase that best describes your service (education, environment, human needs or public safety). If you're not sure which one you need, click on each one to read about it & decide. You may have accomplished more than one thing; in that case, you can fill out more than one form.
  • Identify the bullet point that best describes your accomplishment. Describe the activity, recipients, and results as quantitatively as you can (Ex: number of people served, cans collected, or volunteers recruited. Numbers are good!  Be concrete.)
  • Be sure to click Save & print this page. Sign & send to Claire.
