Pilgrimage for Peace and Justice to Visit Guilford April 9

A state-wide pilgrimage to bring attention to immigration, fair trade and worker justice will make a stop at Guilford College on Thursday, April 9.

The Pilgrimage for Peace and Justice, sponsored by the Carolina Interfaith Task Force on Central America (CITCA), along with 33 organizations and churches, is cosponsoring a 100-mile walk through Charlotte, Asheville, Winston-Salem, Greensboro and other cities throughout Holy Week.

Thursday’s pilgrimage will begin at the office of the American Friends Service Committee (6306 W. Market Street) at 9:30 a.m., walking approximately two miles from there to Guilford’s campus.

At 12 p.m. in the Founders Hall Commons, participants will have the opportunity to view “Nuestras Historias, Nuestros Sueños,” a documentary exhibit on issues relating to immigration, including labor rights and access to education, followed by a lunch and discussion in the Gilmer Room (located in the dining hall) at 12:30.

The group will also present an update on immigrant rights at 2:30 p.m. at the Faith Action International House (705 N. Greene Street), followed by a peaceful march through the downtown area.
