Observatory Open House on “How Stars Die” to be Held April 14

Guilford's Cline Observatory will hold an open-house event Saturday April 14, at 8 p.m. in Joseph M. Bryan Jr. Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

Don Smith will hold a short multimedia presentation focusing on how stars are formed, what keeps them burning, what happens when they run out of fuel and answer the question “what is a black hole, anyway?” The presentation will be followed by a tour of the observatory and a viewing of stars being born, and the spectacular results of their deaths. Venus and Saturn should also be available for viewing through the small telescopes and the main telescopes, weather permitting.
