French Film Series Screenings to be Held Sept. 17-Oct. 6

Guilford will present “Secrets and Revelations: Recent Films From France,” a series of six French feature films, beginning Thursday, Sept. 17. All screenings will be held in Joseph M. Bryan Jr. Auditorium, located in the Frank Family Science Center at 8 p.m.

  • Thursday, Sept. 17: “IL Y A LONGTEMPS QUE JE T’AIME (I’ve Loved You So Long),” directed by Philippe Claudel (France 2008). 117 min. A former physician, imprisoned for 15 years, readjusts to civilian life.
  • Sunday, Sept. 20: “ L'IVRESSE DU POUVOIR (Comedy of Power),” directed by Claude Chabrol (France 2006). 110 min. A magistrate prepares for trial a case of misappropriations and embezzlement of public funds.
  • Friday, Sept. 25: “NE LE DIS A PERSONNE (Tell No One),” directed by Guillaume Canet (France 2006). 125 min. Devastated by his wife’s murder, a pediatrician defends himself against unscrupulous relatives.
  • Monday, Sept. 28: “LE TEMPS QUI RESTE (Time to Leave),” directed by François Ozon (France 2005). 85 min. A photographer grapples with his terminal illness and his prospective fatherhood.
  • Thursday, Oct. 1: “UN SECRET (A Secret),” directed by Claude Miller (France 2007) .110 min. A secret follows the life of a Jewish family in post- World War II France.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 6: “ROMAN DE GARE (Roman de gare),” directed by Claude Lelouch (France 2007). 103 min. A crime novelist, her ghost-writer and a serial murderer conspire against each other.
