Friends of the Library to Host Discussion Focused on Paul Krugman Nov. 1
The Friends of the Guilford College Library will host a discussion, “Paul Krugman’s World View,” Sunday, Nov. 1, in advance of the Nobel Prize-winning economist’s talk in the Bryan Series.
The discussion is at 3 p.m. in the Carnegie Room at the library. The public is invited at no charge.
Guilford faculty members Ken Gilmore and Deena Burris will coordinate the discussion. Gilmore is associate professor of political science and Burris is assistant professor of business management.
For the discussion, they will draw from Krugman’s latest book, The Return of Depression Economics and the Crisis of 2008, his bestselling book, Conscience of a Liberal, and his columns from The New York Times.
The discussion will center on Krugman’s views of the political and financial background of the United States and how conditions, actions and a variety of situations culminated in the current financial crisis.
Krugman’s lecture is at War Memorial Auditorium on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are available at the Greensboro Coliseum Advance Box Office, online at Ticketmaster.com and by phone at 1-800-745-3000.
