Bryan Series Continues With J.C. Watts Feb. 26
Former U.S. Representative J.C. Watts will speak on "Leadership Lessons" at War Memorial Auditorium on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m. as part of Guilford College’s 2007-08 Bryan Series.

Watts served as U.S. Representative from Oklahoma’s Fourth District from 1994-2002. In 1998, he was elected to serve as chairman of the House Republican Conference, the fourth ranking leadership position in the majority party.
He is a regular contributor to CNN, providing political and policy analysis from a conservative perspective on a variety of news programs, and is the chairman of J.C. Watts Companies, which provides services in communication, business and public affairs.
Watts’s 2002 autobiography What Color is a Conservative? recounts his life, from his meager beginnings in Oklahoma, to his athletic achievements in college and early adulthood, to his election to office as the first black congressman in Oklahoma since the Reconstruction.
In 2003, Watts led a U.S. delegation to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe Conference on Racism, Discrimination and Xenophobia. He co-founded the Coalition for AIDS Relief in Africa and serves on the board of Africare. He also created the J.C. and Frankie Watts Foundation to focus on urban renewal and other charitable initiatives.
