Author Daniel Wallace to Speak About Latest Book at Guilford Sept. 5
North Carolina Author Daniel Wallace will discuss his latest book, Mr. Sebastian and the Negro Magician, Wednesday, Sept. 5, at 7:30 p.m. in Dana Auditorium. The event is free.
Wallace, who also authored Big Fish, will hold a conversation on his work with Mary Dalton, media critic for WFDD’s “Voices and Viewpoints.” Dalton is an assistant professor of communications at Wake Forest University.
An acclaimed author whose work has also been adapted to film, Wallace is the author of the novels Ray in Reverse (2000) and The Watermelon King (2003). In early 2008, he will take a post as distinguished chair in creative writing at UNC Chapel Hill.
In addition to the evening program, Wallace will speak at Guilford’s academic convocation, a traditional assembly for students, faculty and staff.
Previous opening convocation speakers have included Columbia University professor Robert Thurman, Project Vote Smart president Richard Kimball, Yale University professor Sherwin Nuland and his wife, Sarah Peterson Nuland (a 1970 Guilford graduate), Greensboro Symphony conductor Stuart Malina and author and historian James Carroll and former Bennett College President Johnnetta Cole.
