Lloyd Thacker College Admissions Conference to be Held April 7
Registration continues for the April 7 college admission workshop with Lloyd Thacker, founder and director of the Education Conservancy and author of College Unranked: Ending the College Admissions Frenzy. The conference, to be held on the Guilford College campus, will be of interest to high school guidance counselors, college counselors, independent educational consultants and higher educational professionals.
A public talk with Thacker on the college search process will be held Monday, April 7, at 7:30 p.m. at New Garden Friends Meeting. Thacker’s visit is co-sponsored by Greensboro Day School, American Hebrew Academy, New Garden Friends School and Guilford College. Both events are free of charge.
The Education Conservancy (EC) is a non-profit organization committed to improving college admission processes for students, colleges and high schools. Its “Beyond Rankings” project calls for colleges to reject published ranking systems based on what it sees as flawed methodology and oversimplification. To date, 65 public and private college presidents have signed.
In College Unranked, Thacker collects advice from college presidents and admission deans on how college admission can be a productive experience for students, parents, counselors and admission professionals.
Thacker established EC in 2004 after a 28-year career in college admissions and counseling. He lives in Portland, Ore.
