Campus Life Adds Full-Time, Professional Residence Hall Directors

For the first time, campus life has hired an all-professional staff of hall directors. In past years, enrolled traditional students filled these positions.

The residence life staff has five entirely new employees. New to the professional staff are Meagan Jolliffe, Nick Pendergraft ’08, Larry D. Cummings Jr., Dennis James Scott Jr., Alexandra Howard, Kristin Charest ’08 and Yacoub Saad ’08. Returning to the professional staff is Mohammad Khalaf ’05.

Meagan JolliffeMeagan Jolliffe, a nationally certified counselor (NCC) originally from Ontario, Canada, has joined the campus life staff as a hall director for Milner Hall. Jolliffe will also act as the health and wellness coordinator for campus life. Jolliffe obtained her bachelor’s degree in dance from UNC Greensboro in 2006 and has taught dance both in Canadian and American studios. Jolliffe also has a master’s degree in counseling at UNC Greensboro as well as a concentration in student development in higher education.  During the 2007-08 school year, Jolliffe interned in Guilford’s student health and counseling center with Gaither Terrell.

 

 

 

Nick PendergraftNick Pendergraft, also a graduate of Guilford College, will be joining the campus life staff as a hall director in Bryan Hall and will be one of the intramurals coordinator for campus life. Pendergraft received his degree in history with an education studies minor.  While a student at Guilford he was a student assistant with the men’s basketball team and will continue to coach the team in the upcoming year.

 

 

 

 

Larry CummingsLarry D. Cummings Jr., a Greensboro native, graduated from East Carolina University with a degree in student health education in 2008. Cummings will join the campus life staff as a hall director for Binford Hall and as another intramurals coordinator for campus life.

 

 

 

 

 

Dennis ScottDennis James Scott Jr., a North Carolina native, attended North Carolina Central University.  In 2008 Scott received a bachelor in hospitality and tourism administration and a minor in business. While at N.C. Central, Scott was extremely active in the residence life program. He will assume the roll of hall director for Milner Hall as well as the faculty programming liaison for campus life.

 

 

 

 

Alexandra HowardAlexandra Howard, from Southern Pines, N.C., is joining the campus life staff for the summer and fall of 2008. She will be interning with the office of student leadership and engagement and is a part time hall director for campus life. Howard completed her undergraduate degree at Elon University and is currently finishing her master’s degree at UNC Greensboro in student personnel administration in higher education.

 

 

 

Kristin CharestKristin Charest, originally from Pennsylvania, graduated from Guilford College in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology/anthropology and peace and conflict studies with a concentration in European history. Charest spent a semester abroad during her time at Guilford as an intern for Encompas Trust in London, England. Formerly a resident advisor in Milner and Mary Hobbs Halls, Charest will accompany Pendergraft as a hall director in Bryan Hall. Charest will also be the sophomore experience liaison for campus life.

 

 

 

 

Yacoub SaadYacoub Saad, a Guilford College graduate, will be returning the campus life staff as a hall director for the South Apartments and the Alternative Houses. He will also become the multicultural programming liaison. Saad obtained his bachelor’s degree in computer information systems and will begin his master’s work at UNC Greensboro this fall in information technology and management. While a student at Guilford, Saad was a project coordinator for the community service group Hunger and Homelessness, vice president for the International Club, a resident advisor in Milner Hall, the North and South Apartments and a hall director in Binford Hall.

 

 

 

 

Mohammad KhalafMohammad Khalaf is returning to the campus life staff for a second year as a professional hall director. Khalaf graduated from Guilford College in 2005 with degrees in biology and computing/information technology. He will assume the role of hall director for English, Shore and Mary Hobbs halls as well as the health and wellness coordinator. Currently Khalaf is working on a master’s degree at UNC Greensboro in public health.
