New Chamber Ensemble to Perform Jan. 27
The Guilford College Department of Music will present a chamber recital by Musica Harmonica, a local five-piece ensemble, on Sunday, Jan. 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Dana Auditorium. The recital will feature Franz Schubert’s Quintet in A major (“The Trout”) and the Four Seasons of Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla.
Musica Harmonica formed in Greensboro in 2007 with the goal of promoting peace and cultural understanding through musical collaboration. Its members, who met through the Eastern Music Festival, have lived all over the world, including Brazil, Australia, France, the Netherlands, Portugal, Canada and the United States.
The ensemble features Joan Griffing (violin), Diane Pheonix-Neal (viola), Beth Vanderborgh (cello), Luciano Caneiro (contrabass) and Lynne Mackey (piano).
