Grammy-winning Los Angeles Guitar Quartet to Perform April 15

LAGQThe Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, one of America’s premier instrumental ensembles, will perform Sunday, April 15, at 2 p.m. in Dana Auditorium. The event is sponsored by the Guilford College Music Department and the Piedmont Classic Guitar Society.

Popularly known as the LAGQ, the group includes John Dearman, William Kanengiser, Scott Tennant and Matthew Greif. The quartet received a Grammy Award in 2005 for its multi-genre CD, Guitar Heroes. Recent projects include the group’s latest CD, Spin, a tour of new arrangements by the quartet as well as other modern composers.

The LAGQ has set new standards for the classical guitar quartet medium. Their critically acclaimed transcriptions of concert masterworks provide a fresh look at the music of the past, while their interpretations of works from the contemporary and world-music realms continually break new ground.

General admission tickets will be available at the door for $20 (general public), $15 (students with ID) and $10 (Piedmont Classic Guitar Society members with membership card). There will be no advanced sales or reserved seats. Call 336-316-2376 for more information.
