Kim Garner Named Disability Services Coordinator

Kim GarnerKim Garner has been named coordinator of disability services, effective Feb. 1. Garner will facilitate accommodations for students and assure the college’s compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Garner joined Guilford’s staff in 2001 as an alternative learning specialist. In her new role, she will continue to tutor and advise students with disabilities, processing all disability disclosures, communicating with students, parents and treatment providers to get necessary documentation to complete the disclosure process. As coordinator, Garner will also meet with prospective students to explain available services, teach one learning strategies course per semester and train faculty and staff regarding ADA issues.

Garner has worked with special-needs students for over 20 years. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Geneseo and a master’s of science in education from Nazareth College of Rochester.
