The Grill Undergoes Summer Renovation

Grill Renovations 1Students returning to Guilford this fall might not recognize The Grill, located on the lower level of Founders Hall. The area is undergoing a total renovation over the summer, and should be open for business again by the time students arrive on campus.

The new Grill will be larger, boasting three times the amount of serving space that it had before, and its modern design will allow more natural light. It will also have several televisions and wireless Internet. New dining services provider Meriwether Godsey is developing an expanded menu as well. The Grill is also expected to have longer operating hours during the week.

Grill Renovations2The current upgrades are the most extensive that The Grill has seen since its construction, says Jon Varnell, Guilford’s associate vice president of operations and facilities. “We’ve done a number of projects there over the years, but they were really only face-lifts,” he says. This time, the area was completely gutted and stripped down to its original ceiling deck. All of the area’s mechanical and plumbing systems are being replaced.

The Grill project represents the first phase of a planned overall upgrade of all dining areas.
