Film on Family's Gospel Quartet to Screen April 8

Landis familyThe Africana Film Series will present a screening of the documentary film “A Singing Stream: A Black Family Chronicle” on Wednesday, April 8, at 7:30 p.m. in Joseph M. Bryan Jr. Auditorium, located in the Frank Family Science Center.

The film traces the history of the gospel-singing Landis family from rural North Carolina, including scenes of daily life, reunions, gospel concerts and church services. Several classic gospel songs are performed, such as “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Troubles of the World.”

The Golden Echoes, the gospel quartet featured in the film, will perform after the screening. Alvis Dunn, assistant professor of history, will introduce the film.
