47th Eastern Music Festival June 28-Aug. 2 Features Midori

The 47th Eastern Music Festival, based at Guilford College, will feature a cross-section of America’s most sought-after artists in a five-week schedule of 100 concerts and music-related events June 28-Aug. 2.

The list of participating artists includes music director and 11-time Grammy nominee Gerard Schwarz, Avery Fischer Award winning violinist Midori, cellist Matt Haimovitz, jazz great Ellis Marsalis, the first American gold medalist at the Tchaikovsky Competition, Elmar Oliveira and many more.

On July 16, EMF announced that pianist William Wolfram would replace André Watts in a featured program July 19. Watts has a wrist injury.

The festival also produces a popular fringe series of alternative programming, featuring everything from Americana to alt country, blues, jazz and gospel.
