PAT RANDOLPH and DEARRION SNEAD have been appointed assistant football coaches. Randolph will serve as the Quakers' offensive coordinator and Snead (right) will be the defensive coordinator on first-year head coach KEVIN KIESEL's staff.

A 1988 West Virginia University graduate and four-year football letterwinner under Coach Don Nehlen, Randolph joins the Quakers after serving as an assistant coach at Harriton High School in suburban Philadelphia. Randolph, who grew up in Folsom, Pa., has also coached at Ball State University, Utah State University and Indiana University of Pennsylvania as well as Conestoga (Pa.) High School.

After a standout gridiron career at Ridley (Pa.) High School, Randolph earned a football scholarship to West Virginia, where he rushed for over 1,200 yards in four seasons with the Mountaineers. He played alongside current WVU head coach Rich Rodriguez and former National Football League quarterback Jeff Hostetler. The Mountaineers compiled a 27-20 record and won the 1983 Hall of Fame Bowl and the 1984 Bluebonnet Bowl in Randolph's tenure. He holds West Virginia's school record for the longest run from scrimmage, a 96-yard scoring jaunt against Northern Illinois in 1986. Randolph is remembered for scoring a key touchdown in West Virginia's 1984 win over archrival Penn State University, the Mountaineers' first victory over the Nittany Lions in 34 years.

Snead brings 14 years worth of coaching experience to the Quakers' defense. He spent the past two seasons helping Arizona Western Junior College to a 7-4 record each year. He coached the defensive line and outside linebackers for Texas Southern University and was Virginia State University's defensive coordinator in 2001. Snead's defense at Southwest Minnesota State University ranked No. 12 among NCAA Division II total defense leaders in 1999 and led the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

In 1998, Snead coached the secondary and special teams at Tiffin University, where the Dragons tied a school record with 20 interceptions. Each member of the secondary received All-Mid-States Football Association honors and cornerback Wesley Russell was a First Team NAIA All-American. Snead also made coaching stops at Tennessee State University and East Stroudsburg University.

A member of the Longwood (N.Y.) High School Athletics Hall of Fame, Snead is a 1996 graduate of St. Joseph's College on Long Island. He started his college career at North Carolina A&T State University, where he played varsity football. The Virginia native spent four years after graduation as a noncommissioned officer in the United States Marine Corps. As a Marine, he received the Kuwait Liberation Medal, the National Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Kiesel and his staff return 36 letterwinners from last year's 1-9 club that finished sixth in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference with a 1-5 mark. The Quakers open preseason camp Aug. 11 in preparation for their Sept. 3 season opener at Ferrum College.
