Applications are available at the Info. Desk in Founders Hall, Student Employment Services in the basement of Founders Hall, Hendricks Hall, main lobby of New Garden Hall, Student Financial Services in the basement of New Garden Hall, Conferences & Events in Bauman B-14 and the Facilities offices behind the Mail/Print Services building. Please complete your applications noting your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice, attach your resume and return to Jen Agor in Campus Life, 2nd floor of Founders Hall. The deadline to submit is on or before MARCH 21, 2008. The department managers will contact you between March 25 - April 9, 2008 to set up an interview. Department managers will notify you whether or not you have been selected for the program position by April 9, 2008.

| This position involves processing all new materials for Hege Library, assisting in the repair and maintenance of current materials and assisting in processing of collections and other routine tasks in the Friends Historical Collection. The individual will have responsibility for ensuring that all books are properly stamped, have call numbers properly affixed and are bar-coded to the correct record. It involves working with the librarys database, which is shared with four other libraries. The student will use the librarys inventory program and produce computer generated spine labels. Manuscript and other archival materials are cared for under the direction of the Friends Historical Collection Librarian. The position also involves some data entry and basic office tasks such as filing. Applicant will possess attention to detail, good organizational skills and ability to proofread with care and legible handwriting, be familiar with computers, especially Microsoft Office applications, be capable of lifting heavy boxes of documents and books. | The Help Desk Workers are responsible for providing an initial point of contact for phone and walk-in requests at the IT&S Help Desk between the hours of 8:30 am 10:30 PM Monday Thursday each week and 8:30 am 5:00 pm on Friday. These students will be responsible for solving first level issues and routing issues they cannot resolve to appropriate IT&S staff. They will log support calls, track open calls and follow-up on calls as necessary. Help Desk workers are also responsible for helping students using the computer labs in Bauman and may assist others in the Guilford community, as well. Help Desk Workers will coordinate requests for multimedia equipment and deliver and setup requested equipment to the designated location. Cadre students working in the Help Desk will work on documenting procedures for many of the processes used by students and for revising the manual used by Help Desk workers during the academic terms. Students who work with IT&S during the summer will have the opportunity to learn about how information technology is provided and supported at Guilford College. | These positions will assist the ITS staff in imaging and deploying new PC and Mac computers scheduled for delivery during the summer. They will also take a primary role in re-imaging existing computers with the most current software supported by ITS. They will be responsible for assisting campus wide with troubleshooting phone lines, network connections and cable TV (coax) connections that are experiencing trouble and repairing those when possible. They will ensure that issues with those lines that are beyond their abilities are reported to the appropriate ITS staff member. These positions will also work in the administrative and academic departments on campus to inventory all capital equipment. These students will have responsibility for ensuring all equipment is properly tagged with a Guilford College Asset Tag, entered into the inventory database and properly secured against theft. The position requires excellent telephone, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills and excellent customer-service attitude, be highly organized and detail-oriented, good communication and documentation skills, must have a strong working knowledge of PC and Mac system hardware and software (Windows XP and Mac OSX), must demonstrate an understanding of basic network structures, functions and terminology, be able to complete tasks by their assigned deadlines, knowledge of SAN/NAS technologies a plus, be able to lift 50 pounds and take direction.
