Class of 2012

I’m thinking of a number.  It’s the most students in a class I’ve taken at Guilford, and coming from a public high school I never would have guessed that number was under 20.  Having such small classes is a wonderful advantage.  On the first day of classes as a first-year student, my professors explained that Guilford is writing-intensive.  Having such small classes has been invaluable to my growth as a writer.  Teachers are always willing to help and even solicitous of working individually with students.  I know without this combination I could not have won the Dean’s Award for First-Year Writing.

I don’t spend all my time at Guilford writing, however.  In addition to helping Guilford work on becoming part of the American Colleges and Universities Presidents’ Commitment to Climate Change, I spend a lot of time in the just remodeled fitness center and basketball court.  The campus activity that means the most to me, though, is being involved in and forming SAASA – Sexual Assault Awareness Support and Advocacy club on campus.  Working to raise awareness in the community is what Guilford is all about – community and responsibility.
