A friend of mine who was also looking at Guilford just happened to mention it to me. I did some research on it, came down for a visit, and decided I really liked its friendly atmosphere, small classes, and personable professors (and beautiful campus).
I was homeschooled almost my entire life up until college and was pleasantly surprised to find the application process to Guilford to be stress-free and very accommodating to homeschoolers. Once at Guilford, I had no problem making friends or adjusting to college life, even after having missed out on the public school environment. I was pretty nervous going into college about whether it would be harder for me, as a homeschooler, to get used to living with a bunch of other people. Luckily, that was not the case at all, and the community at Guilford proved to be completely warm and welcoming
There’s plenty of interesting stuff to get involved with at Guilford. I’ve been a part of the college choir and taken several dance classes, both of which I would definitely recommend! My advice would be to make sure to take some classes just for fun, even if they have nothing to do with your major. I’m hoping to attend grad school in England and, after that, pursue a career in medieval archaeology.
