Student Handbook 2008-09
This Guilford College Student Handbook presents an overview of how Guilford operates. It includes information as broad as Guilford's Statement of Purpose and as specific as the college's Parking and Traffice Regulations. It summarizes the rights and responsibilities that govern student life at Guilford.
As members of this community, all students must read, understand and observe the academic, residence hall and college regulations described here. It serves as a companion to the academic policies and procedures as outlined in the Guilford College Catalog available on the Web site at www.guilford.edu/catalog.
Responsibility for the Guilford College Student Handbook rests with the dean of students. Any student, faculty member or administrator may propose changes in the college regulations contained in this handbook by submitting their recommendations to the Community Senate and the dean of students. A group of staff, faculty and students will regularly review proposed changes. The dean of students, in consultation with students at the college, shall prepare the Guilford College Student Handbook, which shall summarize the rights and responsibilities that govern student life at the college. It shall serve as the official record of social and academic regulations, traffic regulations, rules affecting student organizations and group activities and student-oriented administrative policies and procedures as outlined below. It shall be the responsibility of the dean for campus life to give continuous attention to the Guilford College Student Handbook so that it reflects applicable policies and procedures and to propose appropriate changes.
This edition is being distributed to the Guilford community at the beginning of the college's 170th academic year in August of 2006. The Office for Campus Life and Community Senate welcome suggestions for changes in forthcoming editions.
