New Students
Welcome to Guilford!
A good first step and introduction to our department can be found in our training. For new traditional students, IT&S training is a part of the CHAOS orientation. For new CCE students training is conducted the Saturday before classes begin. If you miss training and still need to setup your account, all you have to do is visit us at Bauman 101 and take about 20 minutes and we’ll get you all set up.
The second step in taking full advantage of what we offer is having a computer! If you already have one, great. We have a list of computer specifications, which detail the level of support we offer for both hardware and software. If you don’t already have one, and are looking into buying one, take a look at the specifications. If you order from our partners Dell or Apple using the links on our Computer Specifications page, they offer a discount. (It is important to note that Guilford College does not assume any responsiblity for computers purchased through these special offers or discounts.)
The third step in taking advantage of the college network is getting connected to it! For on-campus students, help sheets to connect your computer to the network from your dorm room can be found in the links to the right. For off-campus students, you’ll have to use VPN (for access to library databases) or Citrix (to access your sharespace and any on-campus software). Help sheets for those can be found in the help section of our website. For students with wireles laptops, help sheets to connect can be found in the links to the right.
Be sure to check out our Software Downloads page. It has our free antivirus and antispyware software. Also, checkout our free and legal music download program Ruckus!
