Telephone and Voice Mail Services
Faculty
Phone and voice mail service are provided by the Telecommunications Office as part of IT&S. Voice mail can be used for personal messages, but it also serves as a way for Senior Administration to broadcast important campus wide information to the community. Depending on the number of individuals sharing an office, there may be more than one voice mailbox associated with a phone extension. Voice mail is password protected. Following creation or modification of voice mailbox(es) for an individual or office location, information regarding Guilford's phone service and setup instructions for the voice mailbox(es) is sent directly to the appropriate faculty member's campus mailbox in King Hall. Please read over this information. Any problems experienced with either voice mail or phone service should be directed to the IT&S Help Desk at ext 2525.
Students
Telecommunications at Guilford College provides residential, non-commercial telephone service to residential students. There are no charges for on-campus or local calls. Depending on the number of occupants, each residence hall room or suite has associated with it one telephone extension. If a student moves to a different room he/she should use the extension associated with that room. Each residential student can request an individual voice mailbox at the Help Desk.
Long distance calls from on-campus can be placed either by using a calling card issued against your home telephone number (not a campus extension), a domestic or international prepaid calling card (available for purchase in the College Bookstore), or the student's own cellular phone.
Any questions about Guilford's phone service and voice mail system will gladly be answered during CHAOS. Additional information relating to the use of Guilford's phone system can be found in the Student Handbook.
*It is the responsibility of each member of the Guilford College Community to use these services appropriately and in compliance with all College, City, County, State, and Federal laws and regulations.
