IT&S provides students with a suite of software to help with efficency, fun, and protection of computers from viruses and spyware. Sophos Antivirus is provided for free to students and is vital as a tool for securing computers that are connected to the Guilford network.
Antivirus and Anti-Spyware
Keep your computers free of viruses and spyware by installing these great tools. They work wonders for your computer and help keep your system safe. The best part is that these are provided free for student use.
Sophos Antivirus for your Windows and Macintosh
- This is an important program. It will help protect your computer from viruses.
- Download the installer for Windows or Mac OSX (enter your network username and password if prompted)
- Follow the Windows or Mac OSX installation instructions that are included.
- Run Liveupdate to make sure you have the latest version of antivirus updates. To do this you will need the username and password that can be found in the read_me file included in the download.
Lavasoft Adaware
- This is an important program. Lavasoft Adaware is free software that will help protect your Windows computer from spyware.
- Download the installer (enter your network username and password if prompted)
- Follow the installation instructions.

- Firefox 2.x (required if using Lotus Notes web client)

NOTE: Other software is available from IT&S, although these programs are not available on the Guilford Website. You can obtain specific software from IT&S as instructed by your professor should your class require it.
